The treatment of well water and groundwater is mainly aimed at removing harmful substances such as iron, manganese, ammonia nitrogen, sediment, and scale, so that the treated water quality meets the national drinking water standards. At present, the main treatment for well water and groundwater is to remove iron and manganese. In China, the high content of iron and manganese in groundwater is quite common. The removal of iron and manganese is mainly carried out through aeration and filtration. The filtering media used for filtration are usually quartz sand and manganese sand, which are then filtered through activated carbon and precision filters. After treatment, the water quality can basically meet the national drinking water standards. Ammonia nitrogen is mostly filtered using ultrafiltration or reverse osmosis processes, while sediment and scale can be filtered using multi-media filtration and ion exchange softening devices.
