For welding balls with multiple specifications and large batches for a certain project, before mass production, one or two pieces of each specification should be tested to verify the hemispherical size of the finished product and whether it meets the design requirements. Based on the experimental results, the reasons should be analyzed to make appropriate adjustments to factors such as grinding tools, pressure testing process, pushing speed, and heating temperature.

1. The ball blank is cut using a CNC cutting machine, and the cutting size is rechecked by a dedicated person to ensure processing quality.
2. Hollow spheres are heated using a reflector furnace during pressing, with a pressing temperature controlled at 1050+50 and a demolding temperature not lower than 650. The temperature cannot be too low, otherwise it cannot be pressed into shape and needs to be reheated for a second time; The temperature should not be too high, as the grain structure of the steel plate will be damaged and prone to wrinkling.
3. Apply lubricant correctly on the inner surface of the contact area between the die corner and the blank, as well as the contact area between the edge ring and the blank. Lift the heated billet from the heating furnace onto the concave mold, align the circular billet with the center of the concave mold, and cover it with a pressure ring. Use wedge-shaped blocks to tighten the edge pressing ring at the Kama position around the edge pressing ring. Do not tighten it too much, as it may affect the longitudinal sliding of the blank material. The main function of the edge pressing ring is to prevent uneven force on the blank material, which may cause wrinkling of the blank material and affect its sliding through the gaps between the concave die corners and the convex and concave dies. Causing waves, wrinkles, and scratches on the eaves of the hemispherical billet, wrinkles can also increase the load on the press. Manipulate the upper mold, push the upper mold cylinder of the press downwards, and after the hemisphere is pressed in place, unload the cylinder and perform hemisphere demolding.
4. After the semi spherical tire is cooled, use a template to check the curvature and size, deduct the gap between the weld pads of the two semi spherical joints, and draw the actual cutting position line of the semi spherical joints.
5. According to the cutting line of the hemisphere, create a groove. The groove should not leave roots for welding penetration. Mechanical processing is recommended for the groove, but semi-automatic flame cutting can also be used for the groove. The size of the hemispherical groove shall be subject to the process requirements. If the structure is a hemispherical welded to the embedded plate, a 45 degree single-sided groove shall be opened on the outer wall of the hemisphere; If the structure is welded as a whole ball, each hemisphere should have a single-sided groove of 22-30 degrees. For thick plate welded balls, a small groove should be selected to prevent the surface of the hemispherical butt weld from being too wide and affecting the appearance quality of the weld.
6. Inspection tolerance requirements for hemispherical finished products: After the semi-circular ball is pressed and formed, the wall thickness reduction should not exceed 13% and not exceed 2.5mm (diameter ≤ 50cm) according to the design and specifications. The allowable deviation for misalignment should not exceed 1mm. Use a caliper and vernier caliper to check, and divide the thinning area into 48 points along the parallel line for ultrasonic testing.
