Machine operation method:

1. Adjust all parts of the testing machine to normal, and run the grinding wheel idle for 5 minutes.

2. Secure the sample to the left end of the testing machine balance, with the sole facing upwards, and level the worn part of the sole.

3. Adjust the grinding wheel position to align with the flat surface of the sample, and the grinding wheel position should be on the upper left side of the sample seat support pillar.

4. Balance the two ends of the balance (with the pointer pointing to zero), and then add a weight (such as 4.9N or 500g weight) to the pressure value required by the test conditions at the right end of the balance. At this point, the contact pressure between the sample and the grinding wheel is the specified value.

5. Adjust the height position of the grinding wheel so that the balance pointer points to zero, and then tighten the fastening handle of the grinding wheel shaft.

6. Adjust the time selection to the desired value.

7. Turn on the machine, adjust the grinding wheel speed to the specified value, and reset the time display to zero before starting the test.

8. After the testing machine automatically stops for the specified time, measure the length of the wear marks on both sides with a vernier caliper.

If sulfur deficiency is found during the test, the test should be stopped immediately and the contaminated grinding wheel should be cleaned with organic solvents.

Test results:

(1). The test results are expressed in millimeters using the length of the abrasion mark, with significant figures to one decimal place.

(2). Each sample should be tested at least twice, and the arithmetic mean of the four data points from the two locations should be taken. If the scratch is trapezoidal, the difference between the long and short sides should not exceed 10% of the short side.

(3). The maximum allowable deviation of each sample and each test data from the average value is 10%, otherwise the test should be repeated.

(4). The test results of each sample should be presented separately.
