What is the smell of phenolic plastic after heating? Is it harmful? With whatWaste gas purification equipmentCan it be effectively resolved?
Phenol and formaldehyde are both toxic. Thermosetting phenolic resin adhesive is a small molecule resin, and formaldehyde is greatly excessive during synthesis. If not treated properly, the resin contains a large amount of formaldehyde. To make thermosetting resin, phenolic compounds such as phenol are added as curing agents. These components will evaporate and form harmful gases during the heating process.

b. Sensitization effect;
c. Mutagenic effect
How to deal with the odor of exhaust gas generated by phenolic resin? Phenolic resin is synthesized from phenol and formaldehyde. At present, plants such as aloe and chlorophytum comosum are widely used to remove these two odors.
1. Physics can use carbon adsorption. In terms of chemistry, its practicality is currently weak.
2. Absorb with ammonium carbonate solution to convert formaldehyde into non volatile hexamethylenetetramine.
For the treatment of resin and plastic waste gas, a complete product line (RCO catalytic combustion, activated carbon adsorption desorption device, zeolite wheel, as well as electric tar precipitators, electrostatic fume exhaust gas purifiers, plasma fume exhaust gas purifiers, etc.) can be matched with suitable plastic waste gas treatment solutions according to the specific working conditions of customers. Because sometimes the working conditions are too harsh on site and the waste gas concentration is too high, pre-treatment is needed, such as spray towers, demisters, gas-liquid separators, coolers, and some working conditions require the addition of fire dampers, etc. Therefore, the treatment of plastic waste gas needs to be analyzed on a case by case basis.

We have designed a purification process for the factory, which includes an electric tar catcher, electrostatic filter, photolysis exhaust gas purification equipment, and activated carbon adsorption box. Compared with the existing activated carbon adsorption, plasma treatment, UV photolysis, and catalytic combustion methods on the market, it is more economical and applicable, with an overall purification efficiency of over 97%.
The hazards of phenol to human health: Phenol has a strong corrosive effect on the skin and mucous membranes, and can inhibit the central nervous system or damage liver and kidney function. Acute poisoning can also occur at high concentrations, but it is unlikely to occur in your area (we conducted experiments where phenol was applied to the skin, and a lot of blisters appeared the next day, but we were in direct contact with powdered substances, and you were exposed to gas, so the concentration was relatively lower).

Related knowledge:
The odor emitted by phenolic resin after heating is harmful. Stinky, the toxic smoke produced after combustion is formaldehyde, which has a strong pungent odor and is toxic. Formaldehyde is an aqueous solution of formaldehyde.
The raw materials of phenolic resin are phenol and formaldehyde. Phenol has a camphor smell, while formaldehyde strictly speaking has no smell, so what you smell may be a mixture of phenol and other impurities.
Because phenolic resin is cheap, a large amount of thermosetting phenolic resin is used as adhesive in the coatings, adhesives, woodworking boards, plywood, and other materials used in our home decoration. After decoration, formaldehyde and phenol in the room come from this.
