Working Principle:In acidic solution, barium chromate reacts with sulfate to form barium sulfate precipitate, releasing chromate ions. After neutralization in the solution, excess barium chromate and generated barium sulfate remain in the precipitate state and are filtered out to remove the precipitate. Under alkaline conditions, chromate ions appear yellow, and the sulfate content of the water sample can be calculated by colorimetry.
