1. Air running test of machine tool

1) Preparation before Air Run Test The purpose of air run test is to verify whether the various actions of the machine tool are normal and reliable. Before carrying out this step of work, the following preparations should be made:

1. Place the machine tool in a natural horizontal position and generally do not use anchor screws to fix it.

2. Remove the dirt from the sliding surfaces of each component, clean them with kerosene, and lubricate them with engine oil.

3. Use a 0.03mm feeler gauge to check the tightness of each fixed joint surface, and ensure that it cannot be inserted; Check the end of each sliding guide rail, and its insertion depth should be ≤ 20mm.

4. Check whether each lubrication oil circuit device is correct (some should be carefully done during assembly), and whether the oil circuit is smooth.

5. Inject lubricating oil into each lubrication point of the machine tool according to the oil quality, variety, and quantity specified in the lubrication chart.

6. Use manual operation to move all movable parts throughout the entire stroke, check whether the movement is light and uniform, whether the action is correct, whether the positioning is correct, and whether the force of the handwheel meets the general technical requirements.

7. Check if the limit device is complete and reliable.

8. Check the rotation direction of the motor. If it does not match the direction indicated on the machine tool label, it should be corrected

When shaking the handwheel or handle, especially when starting the motorized feed, the clamping handles in all directions of the workbench should be released.

10. When starting the machine tool, can the handwheel and handle automatically disengage to avoid damaging the operator.

2) After completing the above preparatory work, the machine tool can proceed with the air running test, which includes the following aspects:

① The idle speed is gradually increased from the low speed to the highest speed, and the running time of each speed is not less than 2 minutes. At the highest speed, the running time is not less than 30 minutes. When the main shaft bearing reaches a stable temperature, it shall not exceed 60 ℃.

② Start the feed box motor and conduct step-by-step operation tests and rapid movement tests using longitudinal, transverse, and lifting feed rates. The operating time for each feed rate should not be less than 2 minutes. When the maximum feed rate reaches a stable temperature, the temperature of each bearing should not exceed 50 ° C.

③ In all speed operation tests, the working mechanisms of the machine tool should be smooth and normal, without impact vibration and periodic noise.

④ During the operation of the machine tool, each lubrication point of the lubrication system should ensure a continuous and sufficient amount of lubricating oil, and there should be no oil leakage in each bearing cover, oil pipe joint, and control handle shaft end.

⑤ Check the various working conditions of electrical equipment, including the smoothness of motor starting, stopping, reversing, braking, and speed regulation, as well as the reliability of magnetic starters, thermal relays, and terminal switches.

Machine tool idle running test is a comprehensive inspection of the working performance and status of the machine tool. It should be done carefully and promptly to discover and solve problems. During this process, various types of machine tool failures are often encountered.
