PH electrodes and transmitters are widely used in many industries, such as chemical, water and wastewater, food and beverage, pharmaceutical, power, metallurgy, and oil and gas industries. PH value is the unit of measurement for the acidity or alkalinity of a liquid medium. The pH sensitive component in glass electrodes is the glass bubble, which can generate an electrochemical potential corresponding to the pH value of the medium. A small amount of H+ions penetrate through the outer layer of the membrane, while negative ions remain in the solution, thereby generating a potential.

The glass pH electrode integrates an Ag/AgCl reference system as a reference electrode required for pH measurement. Calculate the pH value using the Nernst equation based on the potential difference between the reference system and the measurement system. Our pH electrodes and transmitters have excellent linear measurement performance over a wide pH range!

The measurement principles of enamel pH electrodes and glass pH electrodes are similar, except that enamel pH sensitive components are used.

Using ISFET electrodes for pH measurement
Measure pH value using ion selective field-effect transistor (ISFET). It is a transistor with a source and drain, separated from the substrate by a semiconductor. Hydrogen ions in the medium will accumulate on the substrate. The positive charges generated on the outside of the substrate form a 'mirror image' with the negative charges on the inside of the substrate. Thereby making the semiconductor channel conductive. The more H+ions accumulate on the substrate, the greater the current flowing between the source and drain electrodes.
