The difference between water removal in negative pressure systems and positive pressure systems is quite significant. It requires gas to generate a flow rate and use a swirling flow to expel moisture, while also overcoming the attraction of negative pressure fans to allow gravity to act as a force to remove moisture. Therefore, the wind speed of negative pressure systems is crucial in the design process.
Equipment principle:
Whirlwind type -A steam turbine or centrifugal separator uses a series of fins to generate a high-speed cyclone, which rotates and flows gas at high speed inside the separator. A large amount of water containing gas or compressed air enters the steam water separator and moves downward in a swirling manner; The water carried in the swirling gas is separated and accumulated on the inner wall of the steam water separator due to the centrifugal force caused by the decrease in velocity; The separated liquid is collected and flows into the bottom collection tank under the action of gravity, and is discharged through an automatic drain valve. The dry and clean gas is discharged from the outlet of the separator. When the design wind speed of centrifugal cyclone separation reaches 13m/s, the separation of liquid water reaches over 90%Even if the wind speed is reduced to 5-8m/s, the effect can still reach about 70%.
Adsorption Type -There is an obstacle on the gas channel inside the adsorption type separator, usually a metal mesh pad. Suspended water droplets are adsorbed when they encounter it, and when they reach a certain size, they fall to the bottom of the separator due to gravity. Adsorption is not suitable for separation environments with high wind speeds, as the efficiency decreases by 50% when the wind speed exceeds 10m/s. According to the actual usage effect of the wire mesh demister, the separation efficiency reaches almost 100% when the gas flow rate is between 3.5~5m/s. It is also common to use separators that combine steam spinning and adsorption, as the combination of these two methods can improve the overall separation efficiency.
The main difference between baffle, rotary, and adsorption separators is that baffle separators can maintain high separation efficiency over a wide range of flow rates, while rotary and adsorption separators can only achieve a separation efficiency of 98% below a gas velocity of 13.8m/s, otherwise the efficiency will be very low. When the gas velocity is 25m/s, the separation efficiency is only about 50%.
