The 870 direct reading BOD5 analyzer is designed based on the principle of air pressure difference method. When the tested sample is cultured at a constant temperature of 20 ± 1 ℃ for five days, organic matter is converted into nitrogen, carbon, and sulfur oxides through biological oxidation, and carbon dioxide gas is produced and absorbed by sodium hydroxide. At this time, a pressure difference is generated inside the culture bottle. By detecting the height of mercury in the glass tube, the BOD5 value of the water sample can be calculated, which can accurately provide comparability with the results measured by chemical dilution method.
