In 1984, Charles Robert McLaughlin - "Bob" used a program called P-CAD to design high-temperature hybrid circuits. He used a three button mouse system on his computer. Later, he began to feel severe pain, starting from his wrist and extending upwards to his entire arm and even neck. This type of pain is now known as Repetitive Stress Injury (RSI). After several days of persistent pain, he determined that this pain was caused by daily use of the mouse. As the pain became more severe, Bob became increasingly worried that such pain would ultimately cause sexual harm to his body. Bob can fly a private plane, and at that moment he remembered seeing them using a trackball at an air traffic control center. So he consulted where to buy a trackball for personal use, and only then did he realize that there was no trackball available for computer program work yet.
