Introduction:
It consists of three parts: inlet, outlet, water flow section, and sludge hopper. Horizontal sedimentation tanks are often constructed with concrete, and can also be constructed with brick and stone masonry structures or soil tanks lined with bricks and stones.
Horizontal sedimentation tank has a simple structure, good sedimentation effect, stable working performance, and is widely used, but it occupies a large area. If a mud scraper is added or if heavy sediment is removed mechanically, the efficiency of the sedimentation tank can be improved.
Construction and working characteristics:

In order to ensure that the incoming sewage enters the sedimentation tank uniformly and stably, rectification measures should be taken in the inlet area. The baffle at the inlet is generally 0.1-0.15m above the pool water surface, and the immersion depth of the baffle should not be less than 0.25m, usually 0.5-1.0m, with a distance of 0.5-1.0m from the inlet.
Outflow device:
The effluent weir not only controls the height of the water surface in the sedimentation tank, but also has a direct impact on the uniform distribution of water flow in the sedimentation tank. The overflow rate of the sedimentation tank should be equal along the entire length of the outflow weir, generally 250m3/m · d for primary sedimentation tanks and 130-250m3/m · d for secondary sedimentation tanks.
The serrated triangular weir is most commonly used, and the water surface should be located at 1/2 of the tooth height. To adapt to changes in water flow or uneven settlement of structures, a regulating device that can move the weir plate up and down should be installed at the weir mouth to make the outlet weir mouth as horizontal as possible.
A baffle should be installed in front of the weir to block floating debris, or a device for collecting and removing floating debris should be installed. The baffle should be 0.1-0.15m above the water surface, submerged 0.3-0.4m below the water surface, and 0.25-0.5m from the outlet.
Multi bucket sedimentation tank, mechanical scraping equipment can be omitted. Each mud hopper is equipped with a separate mud discharge pipe, which discharges mud independently without interfering with each other, ensuring the concentration of sediment. There are generally no more than two rows of sludge hoppers in the width direction of the pool.
