There are several classifications of muffle furnaces based on their heating elements, operating temperatures, and controllers:
1. According to the heating element, there are electric furnace wire muffle furnace, silicon carbon rod muffle furnace, and silicon molybdenum rod muffle furnace;

Daily maintenance precautions
1. When the muffle furnace is used twice or after a long period of disuse, it must be dried. The baking time should be between 200 ℃ and 600 ℃ for four hours. When in use, the furnace temperature should not exceed the rated temperature to avoid burning out the electric heating elements. It is prohibited to pour various liquids and easily soluble metals into the furnace. The muffle furnace operates at temperatures below 50 ℃, which results in a longer lifespan of the furnace wire.
2. The muffle furnace and controller must be operated in a location with a relative humidity not exceeding 85%, free from conductive dust, explosive gases, or corrosive gases. When metal materials containing oil or grease need to be heated, a large amount of volatile gases will affect and corrode the surface of the electric heating element, causing it to be destroyed and shorten its lifespan. Therefore, timely prevention and proper sealing of containers or appropriate openings should be taken during heating to eliminate the problem.
3. The muffle furnace controller should be limited to use within the ambient temperature range of 0-40 ℃.
4. According to technical requirements, regularly check whether the wiring of the electric furnace and controller is in good condition. The thermocouples connected to the controller may cause interference to the controller, resulting in phenomena such as jumping of display values and increased measurement errors. The higher the furnace temperature, the more obvious this phenomenon becomes. Therefore, it is necessary to ground the metal protective tube (housing) of the thermocouple well, and if necessary, use a three wire output thermocouple. In short, all effective measures should be taken to reduce interference.
5. Do not suddenly pull out the thermocouple at high temperatures to prevent the jacket from exploding.
6. Regularly keep the furnace clean and promptly remove oxides and other substances inside the furnace.
7. During use, when melting samples or burning precipitates with alkaline substances in the furnace, the operating conditions should be strictly controlled. A layer of refractory plate should be pre laid at the bottom of the furnace to prevent corrosion of the furnace.

1. Do not exceed the temperature of this resistance furnace during use.
When installing the sample, be sure to cut off the power supply to prevent electric shock.
When loading and unloading samples, the furnace door should be opened for as short a time as possible to extend the service life of the electric furnace.
4. It is prohibited to pour any liquid into the furnace.
5. Do not put samples contaminated with water and oil into the furnace; Do not use clamps dipped in water and oil to collect samples.
6. Wear gloves when collecting samples to prevent burns.
7. The sample should be placed in the middle of the furnace, neatly arranged, and not randomly placed.
8. Do not touch the electric furnace and surrounding samples casually.
After use, the power and water sources should be cut off.
10. Without the permission of the management personnel, it is not allowed to operate the resistance furnace. Strictly follow the operating procedures of the equipment.
Precautions for ash content testing
1. After initial burning, the sample is taken out and cooled. A small amount of deionized water can be slowly added from the edge of the crucible (do not directly pour it on the residual ash to prevent it from flying) to dissolve water-soluble salts. The carbon particles covered are exposed, evaporated on a water bath, and placed in a drying oven at 120 ° C~130 ° C for thorough drying (fully removing moisture to prevent the residual ash from scattering due to heating during re ashing), and then burned to a constant weight.
When placing or removing the crucible from the muffle furnace, it should be left at the furnace mouth for a moment to preheat or cool the crucible and prevent it from breaking due to temperature fluctuations.
3. When clamping the crucible, preheat it briefly on an electric furnace or muffle furnace.
4. After burning, the crucible should be cooled to below 200 ℃ before being transferred into a dryer. Otherwise, due to the convective effect of heat, residual ash may scatter, and the cooling rate is slow. After cooling, a large vacuum is formed inside the dryer, and the lid is not easy to open.
5. After placing the crucible into the dryer, first cover it with a lid, then slowly push open the lid to release the air. Repeat this several times, cover the lid tightly and cool to room temperature.
When taking out the crucible from the dryer, due to the vacuum inside, when opening the lid to restore normal pressure, it should be lightly moved to allow air to slowly flow in to prevent residual ash from scattering.
