Instrument Introduction:

The hail spectrometer is a product with extremely sturdy body, very low power consumption, and maintenance free. It is a fully sealed mechanical device combined with highly specialized acoustic detectors for monitoring hail and hail size characteristics. The system uses special acoustic detectors, signal processors, and professional software to measure the impact of a single hail on a stainless steel disk. The sound signal of the impact disk is converted into voltage through a high-resolution pulse detector (the voltage is proportional to the kinetic energy transmitted to the sensor surface). The kinetic energy value of the impact mainly depends on the size of the hail. The hail spectrometer can detect hail between 5mm and 75mm, with a frequency of up to 25 times per second, supporting SDI-12 communication, serial RS-232, and Modbus RTU RS485 (using optional adapters). Sensors can be customized through plug and play PC connection at any time or remotely configured using serial commands.
