Product details

The H3C S5500V2-SI series switch is a three-layer gigabit Ethernet switch product independently developed by H3C Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as H3C). It is an intelligent and easy to install network managed switch with high performance and high port density. The S5500V2-SI series Ethernet switch provides 10/100/1000Base-T adaptive Ethernet ports and 100/1000Base-X SFP optical ports, as well as 10GE SFP+optical ports. It can be used to connect to end-users or as an aggregation layer switch for gigabit downstream, and can be aggregated to high-capacity L3 switches through 10G fiber or link aggregation for upstream. The S5500V2-SI series Ethernet switches support IRF2 (Intelligent Resilient Framework, second-generation intelligent resilient architecture) technology. Users can connect up to 9 S5500V2-SI series switches to form a logically independent entity, thereby building a new type of intelligent network with high reliability, scalability, and ease of management.

Simplify management

After the formation of the IRF architecture, it can connect to any port of any device to log in to a unified logical device. By configuring a single device, it can manage the entire intelligent elastic system and all member devices within the system, without physically connecting to each member device to configure and manage them separately.

Simplify business

The various control protocols running in the logical devices formed by IRF are also uniformly operated as a single device. For example, routing protocols are calculated uniformly as a single device. With the application of cross device link aggregation technology, it can replace the original spanning tree protocol, which can save a large number of protocol packet interactions between devices, simplify network operation, and shorten convergence time during network turbulence.

High reliability

The high reliability of IRF is reflected in three aspects: links, devices, and protocols. The physical ports between member devices support aggregation function, and the physical connections between the IRF system and the upper and lower level devices also support aggregation function. This improves the reliability of the links through multi link backup; The IRF system consists of multiple member devices. In the event of a Master device failure, the system will quickly and automatically elect a new Master to ensure uninterrupted business through the system, thus achieving device level 1: N backup; The IRF system will have a real-time protocol hot backup function responsible for backing up the configuration information of the protocol to all other member devices, thereby achieving a 1: N protocol reliability.

technical specifications

Rich IPv6 features

The S5500V2-SI series switches support IPv4/v6 dual protocol stacks, enabling hardware based full line speed forwarding of IPv4/v6 and supporting layer 3 routing functionality for IPv4/v6. Simultaneously supporting ACL, QoS multicast, and network management for IPv6, fully meeting the smooth upgrade of the network from IPv4 to IPv6.

Rich QoS strategies

The H3C S5500V2-SI series switch supports L2 (Layer 2) to L4 (Layer 4) packet filtering function, providing flow classification based on source MAC address, destination MAC address, source IP address, destination IP address, TCP/UDP port number, protocol type, and VLAN. Provide flexible column scheduling algorithms that can be set based on both ports and queues, supporting three modes: SP, WRR, and SP+WRR.

IRF2 (Second Generation Intelligent Elastic Architecture)

The S5500V2-SI series Ethernet switches support the innovative IRF2 (Intelligent Resilient Framework) technology. Users can connect up to 9 S5500V2-SI series switches to form a logically independent entity, thereby building a new type of intelligent network with high reliability, scalability, and ease of management. IRF can bring the following benefits to users:

Simplify managementAfter the formation of the IRF architecture, it can connect to any port of any device to log in to a unified logical device. By configuring a single device, it can manage the entire intelligent elastic system and all member devices within the system, without physically connecting to each member device to configure and manage them separately.

Simplify businessThe various control protocols running in the logical devices formed by IRF are also uniformly operated as a single device. For example, routing protocols are calculated uniformly as a single device. With the application of cross device link aggregation technology, it can replace the original spanning tree protocol, which can save a large number of protocol packet interactions between devices, simplify network operation, and shorten convergence time during network turbulence.

Elastic ExpansionElastic expansion can be achieved according to user needs to ensure user investment. And the newly added devices can achieve "hot plugging" when joining or leaving the IRF architecture, without affecting the normal operation of other devices.

ReliabilityThe high reliability of IRF is reflected in three aspects: links, devices, and protocols. The physical ports between member devices support aggregation function, and the physical connections between the IRF system and the upper and lower level devices also support aggregation function. This improves the reliability of the links through multi link backup; The IRF system consists of multiple member devices. In the event of a Master device failure, the system will quickly and automatically elect a new Master to ensure uninterrupted business through the system, thus achieving device level 1: N backup; The IRF system will have a real-time protocol hot backup function responsible for backing up the configuration information of the protocol to all other member devices, thereby achieving a 1: N protocol reliability.

high-performanceFor high-end switches, the improvement in performance and port density is limited by hardware architecture. The performance and port density of the IRF system are the sum of the performance of all devices and the number of ports within the IRF. Therefore, IRF technology can easily increase the switching capability and user port density of devices by several times, thereby significantly improving device performance.

Complete security control strategy

The H3C S5500V2-SI series switch supports multiple authentication functions. In various network environments with diverse client forms, different clients support different access authentication methods. For example, some clients can only perform MAC address authentication (such as printer terminals), some user hosts can perform 802.1X authentication, and some user hosts only want to perform Portal authentication through web access. In order to flexibly adapt to the multi authentication requirements of this network environment. The client provides Guest Vlan functionality, allowing unauthorized access to only specific resources and implementing corresponding strategies, such as obtaining 802.1x clients, upgrading clients, or obtaining other upgrade programs. Supporting the Secure Shell V2 (SSH V2) feature can provide users with secure information protection and powerful authentication capabilities to protect Ethernet switches from attacks such as IP address fraud and plaintext password interception. The H3C S5500V2-SI series switches support a variety of ARP defense functions, such as ARP Detection, which enables user legitimacy checks and ARP packet validity checks. The ARP speed limit function can prevent a large number of ARP packets from impacting the CPU.

Green and energy-saving

The H3C 5500V2-SI series switches adopt the latest energy-saving chips and innovative architecture design solutions to achieve the lowest power consumption of gigabit switches, bringing users a new network access product that is green, environmentally friendly, and energy-saving, and reducing user maintenance costs. At the same time, the H3C S5500V2-SI series switch adopts various green energy-saving designs, including auto power down (port automatic energy-saving). If the interface status remains down for a period of time, the system automatically stops supplying power to the interface and enters energy-saving mode; Support EEE energy-saving function. If a port is idle for a continuous period of time, the system will set the port to energy-saving mode. When there is message transmission and reception, the port will be awakened by a timed monitoring stream to restore business, achieving energy-saving effect; Meet the EU RoHS standards for material environmental protection and safety.

high reliability

The H3C S5500V2-SI series switch has multiple reliability protections at the device level and link level. Hardware supports overcurrent protection, overvoltage protection, and overheating protection technologies; Supporting fault detection and alarm of power supply and fan, and automatically adjusting the fan speed according to temperature changes, these designs make the equipment highly reliable. In addition to device level reliability, this product also supports a wide range of link level reliability technologies, including protection protocols such as LACP/STP/RSTP/MSTP/PVST. Supports IRF2 intelligent elastic architecture, supports 1: N redundant backup, supports ring stacking, supports cross device link aggregation, greatly improves network reliability, and does not affect network convergence when carrying multiple services and large traffic data on the network.
