Expanded perlite
Expanded perlite is a non-toxic, odorless, non flammable, non corrosive, acid and alkali resistant, thermal insulation, sound insulation material with a honeycomb structure inside. The principle is that perlite ore is crushed to form a certain particle size of mineral sand, which is rapidly heated (above 1000 ℃). The water in the mineral sand vaporizes and expands inside the softened mineral sand particles, forming a porous structure with a volume expansion of 10-30 times its original size. Perlite is divided into three forms based on its expansion technology conditions and uses: open pores, closed pores, and hollow pores.
Expanded perlite is a glassy rock formed by rapid cooling of acidic lava from volcanic eruptions, named after its pearl like fissure structure. Perlite ore includes perlite, obsidian, and turpentine. The difference between the three is that perlite has circular cracks formed by condensation, known as perlite structure, with a moisture content of 2-6%; Pine resin rock has a unique pine resin luster with a moisture content of 6-10%; Obsidian has a glassy luster and shell like fracture surface, with a water content generally less than 2%.
Chemical composition: SiO2 70% ±, H20 4~6%, Fe2O3<1% is considered high-quality, and>1% is considered medium to poor quality.
