The determination of volatile matter in a muffle furnace (1000 ℃) for the determination of plastic ash content is a highly standardized test, and the results depend on the specified test conditions. Therefore, when determining the volatile matter in coal, we should strictly follow the provisions of the national standard regulations. The main technical requirements are analyzed as follows:
The temperature inside the muffle furnace should be strictly controlled within the range of 900 ℃± 10 ℃. When opening the furnace door and placing the sample, the furnace temperature must be restored to 900 ℃± 10 ℃ within 3 minutes after closing the furnace door.
The timing tool for heating time should use a stopwatch, which means that the timing should be accurate for 7 minutes from the moment the sample is sent into the high-temperature zone of the furnace until it leaves the furnace. Otherwise, the sample should be invalidated and weighed again.
3. The determination of volatile matter should be carried out using a crucible with a slotted lid. When weighing the sample, it should be weighed together with the crucible cover. When the crucible is burned in the furnace, direct contact between crucibles and the high-temperature furnace wall should be avoided.
When measuring, if black smoke accumulates on the crucible or crucible cover, the test is also considered invalid. This is because the volatile matter content in coal is too high, and the rate of escape (decomposition) is too fast. At this time, the coal sample should be pressed into coal cakes and cut into small pieces before measurement, or the sample size should be reduced as appropriate before measurement
Technical requirements for determination of plastic ash content using muffle furnace (1000 ℃):
The coal sample in the experimental ash tray should be spread as flat as possible, and the thickness of the sample in the ash tray should not be too large.
During ashing, the furnace door can be opened and the ash dish containing the coal sample on the heat-resistant plate can be slowly pushed closer to the muffle furnace mouth. First, the coal sample in the ash dish should be slowly ashed and smoke. After waiting for a few minutes, when the coal sample no longer smokes, slowly push the ash dish into the hot part of the muffle furnace, close the furnace door, and burn the test sample at 815 ℃± 10 ℃ for 40 minutes. If there is coal sample ignition and explosion during the ashing process, this experiment is invalid and the coal sample ashing must be re weighed
The muffle furnace should have a chimney or ventilation hole to allow the coal sample to eliminate high combustion products and maintain air circulation during the burning process.
The control system of the muffle furnace must indicate accurately. The temperature rise capacity of the high-temperature furnace must meet the requirements for determining ash content.
The ashing time should be able to ensure that the sample is ashed at a temperature of 815 ℃± 10 ℃, and cannot be arbitrarily prolonged or shortened.
