1. Water blocking characteristics
1.1 Radial water resistance:
During the storage, handling, laying, and operation of cables, due to accidents and mechanical forces, the cable protective layer may be damaged. Water will enter the cable from the damaged area in the radial direction and then spread to both ends of the cable, causing a decrease in the electrical performance of the cable. The water blocking method is to wrap a layer of aluminum composite tape vertically under the jacket to ensure that water and moisture cannot penetrate.
1.2 Axial water resistance
Moisture directly enters the interior of the cable from the cable end along the gaps between the structural layers in the axial direction, causing a decrease in the electrical performance of the cable. The water blocking method is to wrap a layer of non-conductive water blocking non-woven fabric under the metal shielding layer of the cable, and then wrap another layer of non-conductive water blocking non-woven fabric on top of the metal shielding layer. If water blocking compounds are filled in the gaps between the cable cores, the water blocking effect will be better.
